We arrived in San Juan the night before the cruise and stayed at the Sheraton in Old San Juan. This was a great hotel with the location being where cruise ships dock while they are in port. The actual embarkation and disembarkation is across the channel though which is about a 15 minute ride from old town. You can pretty much walk from the Sheraton for dining, and any shopping you may need pre cruise.

Day 1 - We took a taxi (actually the Taxi driver that picked us up from the airport), he gave us his number to call when we wanted to go to the port. It was $40 from the airport to Sheraton old town, and $40 from Sheraton to the port. They charge a flat fee and $1.00 per suitcase in the taxi. We had 9 Suitcases and their were 4 people. We got to the port about 12:20 and sailed through check in. It was a little confusing regarding which line to get in for checking in your suitcases, but we found our line to drop off luggage. The signs are facing the building, instead of facing the parking lot. These lines are to give the porters your luggage, that you are checking into the ship for delivery. We had 5 suitcases and gave the porter $5.00. There is not an option to turn your luggage into royal Caribbean personnel, as other ports. You have to use their porters.

We are diamond members and were in a suite, so our line to check in was not too long. We were on the ship by 1 pm and went to directly to Sorrento's for pizza. We didn't want to fight the crowds in the windjammer with our carry on suitcases. At 1:35, the rooms were ready. After exploring the ship and the muster drill, our suitcases were delivered around 6:00 p.m. The muster drill was at 5:30 and ours was in the "Enchanted Evening room" They crowd way to many people in the area with 100 or so people having to stand on the dance floor area, shoulder to shoulder. It was extremely hot and uncomfortable unless you got to the room very early to get a seat.

Cabin Review

Ocean View Panoramic Suite (No Balcony)

Cabin VP

Great cabin. We were 4 ladies. Having two bathroom (1 with shower) and the other a half bath was great. Plenty of closet and drawer space. The room could of help 6 people if you utilize the couch.
