  3. Majestic Princess
We chose to do the Majestic Princess as she is such a new ship and we had never been on one this big. We arrived in Sydney the day before and stayed at the Travel Lodge Wynard. It was basic but suited our purpose. We were a group of 4 couples travelling together and we met up at the OPT at 11am. Put our luggage through and we were then told we could board. Would have taken no longer than 10 minutes and we were on. We then went to see if our cabins were ready and they were. We had obstructed view balcony E603. The obstruction was the tenders, but we still had a good view. We did sail away from the back deck which is a great spot when departing from each port, although can get quite windy. The ship is big!! probably to big for my liking, but my husband had no issue with the size. Although for such a big ship she is beautiful and I did get use to the size of her as each day went on, and yes I would cruise on her again. Cabin E603 was comfortable and like most princess ships the cabins are probably the smallest that we have travelled in especially the bathrooms, the are tiny. We don't spend a lot of time in our cabin so this was not a problem. Dining - we were in Allegro dinning room and had 7.30 sitting. The food was ok and we had no complaints,(with the amount of food they deliver every day it was pretty good) our waiters were fabulous (Karlos and Alex). They made each night a very enjoyable experience. We went to the dinning room for breakfast most mornings as we found Market Place to be very busy. For lunch if we weren't in port we just had a burger or something from noodle bar on deck. Entertainment - We only did 2 of the shows but they were very good, very hard to get a seat in the Princess Theatre. Most nights we just went to the Crown and Grill (which I guess on other ships this would be the Wheelhouse Bar. We loved listening to the Two Brit Girls (Char & Philly) They were great entertainment. New Years Eve was a big night and they had parties happening all over the ship, we stayed in the atrium and had a great time with so much atmosphere. It is strange to be on a ship that has no Pomenade deck, and you do miss this, but we did get use to it. This was our third cruise to New Zealand, but we still found new and different things to do in each port. We booked a private winery/boutique brewery tour from Tauranga and this was a great day. So as not to pay the high prices that they charge on the ship for excursions, I just did a lot of googling. We went to Crown Grill (steak house) and as per usual the food was amazing, no complaints there. Harmony was another story, we were very disappointed, the soup was inedible. Then the waiter suggested that seeing as there were 6 of us that we should order 6 different mains and share them, this would have been a great idea if there was enough of each dish for each person to have a taste (example prawn dish had 4 prawns and there was 6 of us). The mains were ok but certainly nothing to rave about. So we didn't bother trying the French restaurant after talking to others who had been, they said Harmony was better! Overall we had a great time, of course it helps that half of us travelling are Elite so it was nice to have the perks that come with this. We had laundry done 3 times to have it back the next day. The 250min free internet was great. We would sail on Majestic Princess again, but still like the smaller ships (Sun and Sea) better, but that is only my opinion.
