It was fine for a quick getaway, and even though an older ship, there was a lot to like.
However, the corporate cutbacks are really starting to show (especially to those of us who've been cruising Carnival for a while). We can remember actual free drinks for the Captain's toast, then a dollar off any drink, and now just a dollar off Bellinis. The cutbacks in dining rooms and staterooms mean lots of small changes (no pastries unless you ask, long waits for breakfast/brunch, pushing the once-a-day room service, etc.).
The other main negative for us was the small number of hot tubs (4), especially since one was always out of service. The ones in the Serenity area were always packed and the Carnival workers just ignored the smoking that we saw frequently on the Serenity deck.
