Cabin: Balcony

My wife and I took this cruise with another couple. We chose it based on price first, itinerary second. We did not have any children with us which was a good thing because this particular ship is not overly kid friendly. There were no water slides and there was a small splash pad, but overall, it is on the lower end of what I've seen on four other NCL ships.

Embarkation was straightforward. We landed in Miami around 9am, were in the waiting room by 10:30. I think we boarded about 11:30. We were careful to fill out all our pre-boarding documents and so on.

We stayed in a balcony cabin. It was fine for just the two of us, but based on other cruises in mini-suites, we really missed the larger bathroom. I probably would have paid the extra $200 for a mini-suite and higher deck looking back. But the cabin was fine.

Balcony

Cabin BD

I'm not sure of the category, but it was a forward balcony on the starboard side on deck 9. It was a few flights up to the buffet and pool but close to the elevators.

Port Reviews

Miami

The airport is older, we took an Uber to the port for about $15 for 4 people. It took no more than 20 minutes.

Costa Maya

Took a van to the ruins, a guide gave us a tour and walk around. We had about an hour to explore.

Costa Maya

From the ruins, we took a van to a small village. We met a family and had lunch with them. Got to make tortillas.

Harvest Caye

Meh. This is basically a tourist trap. NCL has built up a village you can explore but it's super touristy. This is where you lie on the beach and soak up the sun. The pool is huge and really nice.

Great Stirrup Cay

Again, meh. This is the boat experience on land. You can lay out and drink and go in the water. Lunch is available. At some point that will shut down and the food is packed up, so don't wait too long.
