We Booked this cruise just after bookings opened. We watched the progress of the build with great anticipation. Finally it is time to vacation on the Edge! We arrived in Ft Lauderdale 2 days early with hopes that we might get some beach time and really hit the ground running on vacation. As it worked out the best laid plans! It was a bit chilly and dreary on Saturday so no beach :( Instead we explored the area around our hotel and had several nice meals and a nap or two! So not what we had hoped for it was a good time of rest and easing into vacation mode. We arrived at the port at about 11 a.m. and we were checked in and on the ship within about 20 minutes or so. We went directly to our rooms to drop our things and retrieve our keys. We were also able to meet our room steward Chico who was very friendly and eager to make our stay the one yet.

Off to explore. Navigating the ship was a bit of a challenge as it was so very different, however, it did not take long to get the hang of it! Happy to say I only turned the wrong way off of the elevator once the whole week! (It is a miracle) We then found seats on the Magic Carpet and had a few drinks and a snack. It was a bit windy but so pleasant! Met some nice shipmates. Then off to Muster. Easy peasy and done.

A quick review of our room we were in a C2 in an unfortunate location under the pool deck. When I say noisy I am not sure I have the right words for it. We will be very careful from now on about location. The room itself is beautiful and so much storage we didn't even use it all. The bathroom is again beautiful with plenty of storage. The new balcony design is ok. Hubby loved it I really have no strong opinion one way or the other. It is nice to have the extra space as part of the room and I used it several times with window up and with it down.

Port Reviews

San Juan

We have been here several times and just got off of the ship to pick up a few items at the drug store and took a short walk and returned to the ship.

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We stayed 2 days precruise at the SpringHill Suites.
