We sailed the Australia/New Zealand cruise on the Diamond Princess in 2010 and returned to experience the Majestic Princess.
Most of our 24 Princess cruises have been on their Grand Class ships including the Diamond, Star, Emerald, etc. Our first Princess cruise was with a dance group on the Diamond princess to Alaska. What we liked were the three wood dance floors on the Promenade level in the Explorers Lounge, Crown Grill, and Club Fusion. There was a Rock or Western band and a trio playing every night and they were flexible playing a variety of music. Princess has been getting more and more away from the dance floors and music and now caters to more senior travelers. The main place to dance on the Majestic was in the atrium with it's acrylic floor. We were with a dance group again an were very disappointed.
Food in the main dining room was bland the first few nights, but several meals were better later in the cruise. Our group thought the bland food was because Aussies and New Zealanders like it that way. Service in main dining room was excellent. My favorites were the lobster and pawns and diver scallops.
We chose our Marina deck cabin M419 due to its location just below the buffet on the Lido floor above. I like to run up a flight of stairs to have my breakfast in the morning. The mini suite itself was very nice and spacious. However, this cabin should be listed as having an obstructed view. When I opened the drapes and explored the balcony the SkyWalk on Lido deck crossed right in front of of our room obstructing our view from slightly above eve level on up. We didn't get any views of the ports we visited, nor any nature as when we sailed through Milford sound, In Circular Quay you could not view the Sydney Harbor Bridge. Also people walking on the SkyWalk can look right into your room. I would not recommend any Mini Suite cabins under the SkyWalk on the Starboard side Marina level, numbers M409 to M429. On the port side of Marina level the SkyView Bar will probably also obstruct your view from cabins M410 to M428. Also the respective cabins under us on the Riviera level will also have obstructed view.
