We have not sailed on Carnival for the last 13 years. We actually started off on Carnival for our first 3 cruises and then we moved up to Royal Caribbean starting off with the 15th sailing of the Freedom of the Seas. We have stuck with RC ever since that sailing with the exception of one Disney Cruise in 2008, which was also very nice.

With that said we will not be coming back to Carnival again. The service was horrible on the ship. Only one time the entire cruise did a service person ask if they could take away the dirty dishes from our table. The wait staff was slow and lazy and that is the kind of thing you get when an 18% tip is automatically added into a drink order. I think if the tip was discretionary then the service would be better. The buffets were horrible. But, I do have to say that I did like Guy's Burgers, the BBQ and the Pizza. Those were the food highlights for me. I saw way more drunks on board than any other of my 11 previous sailings on an ship. But, I guess that may be due to it being a 3 day getaway. We booked this cruise to take my expose my nephew to cruising as a treat. He loved it, but I guess that is because he had nothing to compare it to. I was okay with the size of the room also. The comedy club was good but the theater show performances were very below average with performers who looked like they were bored. I know the audience was. They were a perfect example of what most people think of when they think of cruise entertainment. But, that is not true on other lines. I would just rate the whole experience as okay. The ship is worn and dirty and needs to be shown some love and care. We made our trip fun and just had to laugh at the things we didn't like until we go on Royal Caribbean again in 2 months. I guess this would be okay for a brand new cruiser who just wants a cruise experience.

Room was larger than expected and was dusty . Seemed like it had not been cleaned properly for a while. Never even met our room attendant.
