Sail Date: Dec 2018

Wanted a relaxing, warm weather cruise, so chose the Caribbean as we had been before about 10 years ago. Azura was our 2nd P&O ship, Britannia was our first, and there was no comparison. Azura was infinitely better, and we were not disappointed. Were upgraded to Superior deluxe Balcony Suite, which was the biggest cabin we have ever had in our 14 years of cruising. Food in the Meridian Freedom dining restaurant was very good, the lido was ok for breakfast and lunches and snacks, a pity we only tried our main dining room for breakfast on the last day as the breakfast there was excellent and everything was freshly served. We had pre booked Sindhu Indian Restaurant before we sailed and enjoyed our meal there. We also dined in the Epicurean for a special evening meal, which took a long time between courses and was a bit pricey. Our favourite, however, was The Beach House where the food consisted of sizzling steaks served on slate platters, great giant prawn skewers and the biggest strawberry, banana, cream and flambeed brandy deserts. We loved it so much we ate there twice! The evening entertainment, was very good every night, (unusually as on other ships we have been frequently disappointed with some of the acts). The resident band was excellent, the dancers were very good and again unusually the resident singers on the main stage all had great voices and sang in tune. We had no complaints about any of the acts!! Service was good in all areas, all in all no complaints about the ship at all! Weather was great, islands were interesting and we had a great cruise!

Cabin Review

Cabin HE

Cabin was great, if a little dated now, very spacious with a small tv lounge area and a separate tv in the bedroom area. Loads of of shelves and hanging space in the wardrobes and again plenty of storage space around the cabin. Its the first time we have had space that we did not fill! Bath and shower which was great. Champagne, fruit and chocolates in the cabin on arrival, canapes a couple of times during the trip. Balcony was a very good size, we could get the sunbeds flat without banging our feet or head like on other ships. Cabin service was great and our cabin attendant was very thorough.

Port Reviews

Barbados

There was no excursion to Hunte's Garden, which to my mind is the best tropical garden in the Caribbean, nor to The Orchid Garden, nor to Andromeda Botanical Gardens. We hired a taxi for nearly 5 hours for $70 and saw all 3 gardens which was a great day out!
