This was kind of a last minute cruise for us, booking only about 2 months out. We have been to most of the ports we visited, except for Manzanillo. We are platinum captains circle with princess, so this looked like a good cruise.
We flew into SFO the night before the cruise, arriving around midnight. We stayed in the travelodge near the airport. It was ok for getting 5 hours of sleep. Old, but clean. No breakfast. We rented an alamo car from the airport and drove to fishermans wharf early the next morning. He has 8:45 reservations to go see Alcatraz. We drove to the princess pier early, around 8, to see if we could drop our bags, but there was no one there to take them.
Alcatraz was awesome, but it was also cold. Even though we had down parkas, hats, and gloves, it was still cold, damp, and windy. We still thought it was worth it.
Typical inside cabin, maybe a little bit smaller than some of the interior princess cabins we have had. Closet was smaller than some, but good enough for our needs. The remote control to the flat screen TV was about worn out. You had to really mash the keys to get it to work. We complained to our room steward, and I think he changed the batteries, but I don't think it worked much better.
