We were travelling to Singapore and thought it would be a lovely idea to include a short cruise which we did. To get to the point:
It took about 2 hours to check in with long disorganised lines we had to work out what had to be done as there was no real information of where we go or what to do. We had to line up ( no queue area so people kept pushing in) to get bag tags then line up to check in our bags.
Then we had to line up to check in the ship it was long, tiresome, hot and smelly absolute disgraceful. Once aboard we had to find our rooms once again inadequate signage, no staff to direct you so I spent 20 minutes finding the room and another one hour helping older frail people find their rooms on my floor.
The cabin was very good as was the house keeper that was the only good part of the trip. The balcony was wonderful we sat there and had our breakfast. Lovely room
We had a day trip to Penang. On arrival you are met with literally taxi drivers and tour guides everywhere if you manage to by pass them you can walk through this city. Its certainly not for glitz and glam tourist its dirty, smelly and rough but its full or culture, charm and delicious foods. I loved walking through the streets amongst old English colonial run down buildings with viberant foods it was great. Eventually you will stumble upon more upmarket shops and many shopping centres which the taxi drivers and tour guides will take you but do yourself a favour and walk through the less glamourous areas and experence the real Penang. NOTE: Some shop keepers will try are rip you off you must be ready to negosiate for every buy!
