Our 5th River Cruise (1st with Emerald) and one of best, the cruise director was excellent and organised fantastic tours with brilliant guides we particularly enjoyed the home hosted lunch in Croatia which was well organised with the guests being split up into small groups of 8 with an interpreter. Glad we booked a starboard cabin (odd numbers) as we seemed to dock on the port side most days. Cruise covered Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania and it was interesting to hear the history of these countries, both past and recent from the guides who all spoke excellent English.
Emerald had just introduced an entertainment organiser on board and I must say the quality of the entertainment was a big step forward from the usual piano player, I hope Emerald introduce this on other ships.
Swimming pool on Emerald Star is also a nice quiet location where you can sit and enjoy a coffee and biscuits.
Location excellent, very easy to walk up stairs to fetch early morning coffee. Good size, wardrobe space a bit limited but the cabin had room for 2 chairs and table (unlike similar size cabin on Scenic which had big wardrobes but no sitting space). Bathroom sink a bit small but good sized shower. Glad we booked a starboard cabin as we woke up to river views most mornings as opposed to side of dock. Cabin generally quiet although a bit of noise early mornings when gang planks set out (however I was already awake by then).
Had afternoon to do a nice walk past Parliament building.
