I am writing this review although our cruise did not go as planned. It has been widely reported in the papers about the MSC Opera accident in Venice. An extremely unfortunate event due to a mechanical failure. That being said, I would like to commend MSC and it’s Opera staff for working so hard to assist the passengers and create a positive atmosphere. Laura at reception was instrumental in getting us tickets home with a lovely demeanor despite the vitriol of countless cruisers. The housekeeper, Jane, for 10141 was friendly, helpful and went out of her way to make things pleasant. All the staff extended themselves to make everything as comfortable as possible. Kudos to MSc for covering an cost of and making arrangements if one wished to leave early, as well as reimbursing full cost of cruise for all passengers whether they decided to stay on board or not. Also, free Wi-Fi, drinks,, transport to Venice San Marco throughout the day and night. This shows that it knows how to respond d with excellent customer service. The ship, while older, is immaculate and well run. I will cruise with MSC again, despite the accident.
