Here is some info about me:

I'm 48. Live in USA. have cruised 51 days with Carnival, 14 days with princes, and now 7 with MSC. Have cruised a lot of Caribbean, one Norway, one Alaska, and now one Mediterranean. We started and ended our cruise in Genoa.

Before the cruise, I registered myself and my husband for the status match program. NOT user friendly, i must say. Make sure your photo that you upload with your other cruise-line info is a small data file. It took me several tries, but i finally got it done. we got silver level by providing our carnival info. Other than a bowl with 4 pieces of fruit in our cabin, not sure we noticed much difference.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin B1

Our cabin was very nice. we took our 16 year old son with us and had plenty of space. we did note, though, that we had less clothes storage in other cabin than others in out group had in their inside cabins. makes no sense. our cabin steward was very friendly and helpful. it was interesting that they have evidently stopped providing tissues since our tissue dispenser remained empty the whole cruise. it was nice that there was plenty of cabinet space under the sink, although we did not use it. Many reviewers have noted that they were pleased to not have a plastic curtain for the shower. instead, you have curved glass doors that swing in and out on a hinge. The jury is still out for me. although it was nice not to have a curtain sticking to you, it becomes difficult to shave your legs or bend over to pick anything up from the floor because of the doors.

For those who may be wondering about the electrical sockets, there were 2 US sockets and 2 Euro sockets. we took an adapter with two plug in slots, so we had 4 places to plug stuff into.

I found the bed slightly hard. not hard enough to request an egg crate, though, so not awful.

we did not find ourselves using our balcony much, although it was nice to have the ability to step out there. i found it odd that there was not glass below the railing. if you sat down, you could not see below the railing. wasn't crazy about that.

Some of our friends learned the hard way that they charge you for the service of replacing your drinks from your fridge, even if you have a drink package. their steward was nice enough to let them run and get the used drinks and replace them so they did not have to pay. so the lesson here is, if you use it out of the fridge, next time you go to your room, replace it.

My son reported that the fold out couch bed was pretty bad. he said that he either had to sleep in a sunken in spot or with a bar pressing into him. we wonder if we would have been better off not getting the balcony and just having a bunk. others in our group seemed fine with theirs. we got the balcony room because we were afraid that we would feel cramped in the smaller square footage inside and window cabins. others in our group had 4 adults in an inside cabin and the problem was with sharing the bathroom, not the space in the cabin. i guess an option would have been for them to shower in the spa, but i caught wind that you have to pay extra for the spa too.......
