Sail Date: May 2019
Cabin: Deluxe Ocean View with Verandah 2C

This was a Back to Back cruise, from Dublin to Iceland on May 16, then Dublin to Norway on May 26. Celebrity runs these routes only a few times a year. Because of the weather, balcony and outside deck use was minimal, if at all. The only outside features that were used were the hot tubs.

The Celebrity excursions were double to triple the price of private excursions. In all cases, our private excursions returned to the ship with plenty of time.

As we have found with all Celebrity ships, the crew is always glad to see you. We noticed this especially with our cabin attendant, our server in the main dining room, and the sanitizer lady in front of the buffet. Speaking of the buffet, we always got fresh made omelets to order very quickly. There was always something delicious and as always, the pastries were created by a master; they always looked so enticing. For those wanting coffee, there is a free coffee/tea station in the Hideaway Lounge on Deck 7. Speaking of free, Celebrity doesn’t tell you that the pastries in the Cafe al Baccio are free.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View with Verandah 2C

Cabin 2C

This cabin is classified as an Obstructed View. We didn’t see a problem with that. Even when we were docked, we could still look at the dock and watch what was going on. In addition, the cabin has a bump-out balcony, with enough room for a chaise lounge in addition to the usual two chairs and a table. I was concerned about noise coming from the Central Foyer, especially when the singers and the band got going in the evening. Not to worry; we didn’t hear anything.

Port Reviews

Greenock (Glasgow)

We took the Stirling castle, Loch Lomond and trossac tour with Slainte. This was worth it since the Celebrity tour only did the castle. We were also impressed with the shops just outside the port where we found the only embroidered sweatshirts made by a local.

Scotland Slainte Tours: Barry was our tour guide. He made the trip go by so fast. We all enjoyed his jokes and the pride he has for his country. We all could hear him quite well, even when the air conditioning was on. We don't know how he did it, but he even got the weather to cooperate and had the sun come out for us. Thank you for helping make today special. The bus driver also did a great job.

Akureyri

Very enjoyable tour. The guide could trace his family back to 880 (Vikings). We came back to the ship in plenty of time.

Belfast

We went all through the city and you could still feel the tension that occurred during The Troubles.

Cobh (Cork)

Note that it costs just to get into the Blarney Gardens. It costs either 14 euros for seniors or 18 euros for everyone else just to enter the gardens. There are plenty of nice shops to browse. We saved some money by buying some items at the grocery store before going to the gift store.
