When we decided we wanted to cruise the Med, the itinerary and price point were very important to us. We have cruised several times before on DCL and Celebrity, however, we wanted to save the money for excursions and extra time in Italy. We chose the 7 night Croatia and Greece cruise to celebrate high school graduations and birthdays. We cruised as a party of 15. Prior to embarkation, we spent 4 days exploring Florence and 1 night in Venice. Loved both of the cities.
We arrived at the port around 11:30 am via water taxi and check in was easy. Soon after, we were on deck 4 with our embarkation drinks. We were able to secure our specialty dining reservations for the cruise (we purchased the 3-night dinner package but ended up going the 4th night since the dining room food was not very good) which was handled quickly for our large party. By 1:00, staterooms were ready. We met our cabin attendant, Marilyn, who was exceptional. We always like to give a tip to our attendants on day 1 to show our appreciation to their hard work- they are truly like ninjas- coming into the room, cleaning, and leaving before we get back from a meal. We asked for ice daily and she freshened it twice a day.
Dining: The main dining room food was not very good. Sometimes it came out cold, the quality was just OK, and drinks took a very long time to come. We only ate at the main dining room twice for dinner and twice for breakfast.
The cabin was fine for our family of 3. Plenty of storage for clothing (attendant brought extra hangers for me). Beds were comfortable, bathroom was adequate, and the balcony is always a must for us. The location on deck 7 was great! Close to everything we needed.
Just loved Venice. Spent time before the cruise and after just wandering, eating, drinking, etc. Beautiful place.
