I am going to present to the best of my ability a fair review based upon my experiences in cruising. This was my 11th or 12th cruise, the second for Royal Carribean. 20 years ago, my husband and I set sail to Bermuda on our honeymoon on the last ship of the fleet, making the last trip, before the new class of cruise ships were born. It was not a great experience, and being 25 back then, I was sure I wouldn't do it again. Alas, the opportunity came up again several years later, and I fell in love with cruising but hadn't returned to RCCL until now.
FOOD:
I have been on Carnival, Norwegian, Disney and Royal Carribean. Each line is unique in how they deliver their services, and the cruising experience, but most of the tenements of cruising are the same. To be foolproof, you pretty much have to nail down the dining, because let's face it, you are stuck on this floating hotel for a week, and what better way to occupy your time than eating. That being said, the food on Royal Carribean was the worst out of all of the lines I've cruised. The first 2 days, I just couldn't get a good meal. They served a Salmon En Croute that was so fishy, I had to spit it out. By the third night, I was eating dinner rolls, anticipating the bad food that lied ahead. RCCL did not disappoint. I was served an actual bowl of gristle ( yes you heard correct, gristle) it was at that point that I asked the chef to come out so that I could show him what was being served. He was horrified and asked us to be his special guest the next night, in which we did eat a very nice meal, but still not fantastic.
Our cabin steward was good, and the rooms were clean. The bed was hard as a rock, so if you are having this problem, ask your steward to add cushioning.
Fun time, albeit very dangerous because you are driving on main roads.
Tour was boring, wasn't really taken to interesting sites, and biked strenuously for 3.5 hours and was only given half an orange and a warm bottle of water.
Nice island, beautiful beaches.
