This was our 18th Alaska cruise. We have done several with Princess and also with four other cruise lines. We have done four Princess cruise to Alaska from San Francisco.
EMBARKATION
Our travel agency provided transportation from Roseville, California and we had a comfortable ride directly to the ship. We arrived about 1:00 PM and were on board within a few minutes. The check in process was very efficient and there was no need to wait to board. Our cabin was ready and we went directly there to drop our bags and then proceeded to the lido deck for lunch.
We had an outside cabin E 712 on deck 8 (Emerald Deck) with a partially obstructed view. On two occasions we had painters working right outside our window. We liked the layout of the cabin with the head of the bed against the side wall. This is much better than having the bed against the window which necessitates your climbing onto the bed to look out the window. The cabin had a vanity for my wife’s use with three drawers. Two night stands each had two drawers, a shelf and reading lamps. The closet was probably the smallest we have had on any of our cruises; perhaps three feet wide. There was a narrow closet with shelves for storage of folded clothing. It had an abbreviated safe that was just large enough to hold our valuables. The bath was adequate with the typical small shower with a curtain. Three shelves for storage were on the right side of the sink. A TV that was probably about 45 inches was hanging on the wall opposite the bed.
