Fantastic first river cruise

We wanted a river cruise for a 70th birthday celebration.

Saw this one advertised in daily mail and it covered the area we wanted to cruise to.

We started at Budapest and travelled to Bratislava , Durnstein, Melk and Vienna. We were unable to cruise last day due to river level.. however, the choice was there to travel by coach or stay on ship. Everything was well organised and passengers were kept up to date with any changes.

It was a fantastic choice. Everything was run very smoothly from the time we were met at the airport until we ended the cruise.

The service in horizon bar and main restaurant was quick friendly and fun when other passengers were celebrating birthdays or anniversaries. Yes

From the cruise director, reception staff, waiters etc and cabin attendants , all were friendly helpful and welcoming.

The evening entertainment was run by Neil after the evening meal. The juke box jury night was fun and it was great to see the staff join in. From cabin attendant to waiters.

Neil also arranged golf tournament and aqua aerobics.

The guided tours were very well organised with plenty of knowledgeable guides. You could choose the pace of the walking tours to suit your needs and if you wanted a more strenuous tour this was available.bottled water was available each day to take ashore . On previous ocean cruises this was an extra.

Each evening Michael the cruise director detailed the next days events and choices.

The choice of meals was wide ranging, very tasty with different options if you did not want local dishes. There was also a large choice for breakfasts. The service was also first.class.

We had been on ocean cruises before but this was a special experience.

We will definitely choose emerald again
