Having taken 3 cruises on Disney in the Caribbean, we decided to give them a try for Alaska as well. Even though there was no land package offered, the shore excursions, including some Disney exclusives (not available from private tour operators) looked amazing, and turned out better than expected.

Ship departed from Vancouver, BC, Canada. Although we had used Disney to book hotels for the night before the cruise, this time around Disney's hotel was the Fairmont in the terminal, which was prohibitively expensive. For less than half the price, we chose the Marriott Pinnacle down the street and took the 5 minute walk to the port the next day. Vancouver embarkation was not nearly as nice as Port Canaveral, but it was what it was and the excitement of the trip helped us overlook the less than stellar port.

The ship itself was smaller than the sister ships in the Caribbean, but didn't really feel cramped. Given that this was an Alaska trip, their was no crush for the pools during the sea days, so the decks were available for sight seeing and photo opportunities.

Cabin Review

Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

Cabin 00V

Our cabin was converted from a Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah to a Concierge version which allowed access to the concierge lounge and all the perks that go along with it. It was well appointed, but nothing like the larger suites on Fantasy or Dream. But for this trip, it was more than adequate. Our cabin steward, as expected, made every towel animal related to Alaska possible.

Port Reviews

Vancouver

We stayed extra days in Vancouver to go sightseeing and whale-watching. Very nice, walkable city, but expensive!
