We have had the pleasure of cruising the med on several occasions, we booked this thinking it was a 14 day cruise with the usual everyone off and on at the beginning and the end (as was our previous experiences). This wasn't the case, this particular itinerary is really a 7 day cruise and you can do 1,2 or 3 segments (7,14 or 21 days). This works out well for embarkation and disembarkation as its not so crowded but we found that the onboard stuff is just repeated, so if you do a 21 day cruise look forward to the same entertainment 3 times.

This was our 2nd cruise on Emerald, the difference between this time and last was the there seemed to be less staff getting around to either take a drinks order or clean up the things left behind by guests eg: Movies under the stars, we where never approached for a drinks order or offered a cookie or popcorn, the vacant seats and side table in front of us was just left with dirty towels and plates etc for the entire length of time we sat there, this was something we have never experienced with Princess previously.

You will be in a beautiful port each day, so get out and explore either through Princess or other alternatives.

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin ME

We like a mini suite and choose a cabin on Dolphin Forward. We like the extra room in a mini suite, enjoy chilling on the couch with a book or watching the TV. Must have a balcony.

Port Reviews

Athens (Piraeus)

We embarked from Athens so had spent 3 night here pre cruise.

Santorini

Great excursion, time on our own in Fira after, would recommend.

Taormina (Messina)

Docked in Messina early afternoon just did the Hop on hop of bus and walked around. Had already done Taormina & Mt Etna.

Naples

As mentioned in my review, take a ferry to the island of Ischica, you wont be disappointed. We did this by ourselves, there was a tour offered but it was to expensive, we did it for 1/4 of the price and had a great day.

Florence (Livorno)

Stunning excursion, again very hot.

Kotor

Second time to Kotor so just a lovely stroll around this beautiful part of the world.

Barcelona

We did the HOHO bus in Barcelona, made the mistake of not booking tickets for La Sagrada Familia, bummer, but had a great day sightseeing on our own.

Gibraltar

Gibraltar is great to do on your own.

Marseille

1/2 day city tour then time on our own, it was really hot so glad to get back onboard
