Staff at reception were completely inept. We paid for our bill near the end of our trip using a prepaid Visa and the payment was taken, but for some reason it was not registering on MSC'S end. The reception kept telling us that we did not pay our balance and wouldn't settle the charges until we made another payment. We ended up settling the balance in cash although the original balance was already taken from our prepaid Visa. We were left with virtually no money near the end of our trip as a result. In addition to this, every staff member we interacted with to solve the issue were rude and unprofessional. During the cruise, we had access to the television and were able to watch news coverage of the upcoming hurricane (Dorian). The hurricane spawned on the date we embarked on the trip (August 24th), surprisingly, NO discussion of the hurricane was mentioned as a public service announcement or by staff until our second last destination (departing Cozumel, Mexico, on route to Nassau). There was plenty confusion when this occurred because instructions we not made clear as to what our options were as passengers. When the announcement was made, you had to go out into the hallways to hear what was being said, you were not able to hear from inside of your cabin. They did not begin to do the opposite until 3-4 announcement were made already. No refund or reimbursement of the missed destination was promised, just the reimbursement of the missed excursion. Lastly the lack of transfers exhibited total disregard of customers and their safety, making them find their own transfers comes off as all MSC cares about is cutting costs on their end. The menu for the buffets were repetitive and lack luster, they also weren't friendly to those who had food allergies such as gluten. Why should a customer be penalized for their food allergies for each meal? This will be me and my partners first and last time choosing MSC as our cruise line of choice. We did not "feel like family" when we were forced to pay for our bill TWICE at reception, nor when we were not reimbursed at all for our missed port, or when my partner was not able to eat a decent meal due to his gluten allergies. It was the worst cruise we had ever been on.
