This was my first river cruise, and I cannot wait to go on another trip.

There were a wide variety of excursions on offer - including art, history (both medieval and modern), engineering, farming, food, music, etc. - it was an excellent introduction to the area.

The optional extension in Amsterdam before the cruise was a definite plus - we got to explore the city in greater detail and it allowed us to take the excursions farther afield while the ship was docked in Amsterdam. Viking was terrific about coordinating our transits to and from the airport, and making sure that our needs while in town were met (all this before we experienced their hospitality onboard).

Port Reviews

Amsterdam

We had the boat to ourselves, and it was a lovely way to see the city.

Antwerp

It was a lovely introduction, but I would have preferred a greater focus on the EU and NATO quarters, and less on the obligatory waffle.

Arnhem

A vivid mix of artifacts and recreations that was quite moving.

Amsterdam

It was a very good orientation, but the flexibility at the end to pursue our own interests was also appreciated.

Amsterdam

The guide was excellent - providing a great deal of information, but trying to tailor it to the interests of the whole group. As so often, I simply wished there was more time to linger.

Amsterdam

An incredible experience. We went quite early in the season, which meant the crowds were not intense, but the gardens were unbelievably impressive. It looked like we were walking in a postcard. It exceeded every expectation.
