This was a trip to a bucket list area of the world, and the Nieuw Statendam did not disappoint.
The staff were courteous, friendly and obliging (thank you Iman and Izee and others in the main dining room, and stewards Petrus and Joko who made everything work so smoothly for us and for whom nothing was ever too much trouble).
I'll not repeat here the many positive comments made by other reviewers, save to say that I am in agreement with most of them. The food was excellent with sufficient variety, and the public areas were amazing.
Cabin Review
Verandah Stateroom
A comfortable, well appointed cabin, with an extended balcony that could easily accommodate up to 10 guests.
There is plenty of storage space, a lot of cloth hangers, an adequate bar fridge, and hair dryer etc. The bed is king size and comfortable and the TV is large.
Bathroom is adequate for a large person and well appointed. The enclosed shower is surprisingly large. There are cartridge dispensers for soap/shampoo/ conditioner as well as a soap holder which could also accommodate your personal shampoo.
Toilet is at a moderate angle to the room, but perfectly comfortable to use.
