Sail Date: Jun 2019

We have been home a while from our INTO THE MIDNIGHT SUN cruise on the VIKING SUN in June/July 2019 and it is past time for me to put in a review. This is our second cruise with Viking Ocean, we cruised on the Sea earlier this year in the Caribbean. We actually booked this cruise first and then added the Caribbean one on afterwards.

We used Viking Air for this cruise and did well with it. We certainly didn’t have a big cost savings but the efficiency was worth it. Viking representatives met us when we arrived in Bergen and also assisted us to transportation when departing the ship in London. Ground transportation to the airport after the cruise was well handled getting us to Heathrow well in advance of our departure.

The entire check-in process was quick and painless without the long lines that are normal for most of the cruises we have been on previously. We were a little early for going to our room, but since we had traveled all night, we hit an early lunch and then went to the room to unpack (yes, our luggage was there already) and a quick nap.

Cabin Review

Cabin Penthouse Veranda

Large (for a cruise ship) comfortable cabin with plenty of storage. Interactive TV, refrigerator restocked daily, heated bathroom floor (nice on chilly Norweigen days) and great amenities.

Port Reviews

Bergen

Did this on our own - walked from the ship.

Bergen

Enjoyable. Excellent guide. Cold on mountaintop in June.

Kirkwall

Husband did viking whiskey experience and highlights of historic orkney tour... loved it! a bucket list tour for him.

I did highlights of historic orkney. enjoyed this tour and got a good look around this interesting area.

Honningsvag (North Cape)

Drive to North Cape. Bus from ship to North Cape. Stopped along the way to see a typical home of original inhabitance, even petted a reindeer. Visited North Cape, northernmost point in Europe - windy and snow on 28 June! We enjoyed this trip.

London (Greenwich, Tower Bridge, Tilbury)

Walking tour of Royal Greenwich. Knowledgeable and funny guide.

London (Greenwich, Tower Bridge, Tilbury)

Very interesting. Crowded - a tourist mecca, but our guide did well to move us along.

Lerwick (Shetland Islands)

Ancient Civilizations of the SHETLANDS. Enoyed this tour. Got to see and pet real Shetland ponies also.

Edinburgh (South Queensferry)

Enjoyed and Rosslyn Chapel. Anytime my husband gets whisky on a tour it deserves 5 Stars!
