Never been to Sitka or Haines. Big ships rarely go there, but to Skagway and Ketchikan instead. Overall good experience but dampened by toxic second-hand smoke throughout the ship's common area from casino. Even gets into the staterooms via casino smokers and non-smokers who then bring the smell and carcinogens back to their rooms. Other than that, the staterooms are excellent, in particular the mini-suite, which doesn't have an equivalent in other cruise lines I am familiar with. There are lots of drawers / cubbys, etc. and we didn't even have to use them all. However, the beds were very soft and unsupportive, and not good for those needing firmness for bad backs.
The ship's personnel are all very helpful and friendly. The embarkation / debarkation procedures were efficient and went smoothly.
The buffet food was average to occasionally quite good. Would be nice to have a 24/7 drink station for Kool-Aid, lemonade and water like some other cruise lines.
Excellent cabin with lots of space for storing personal items. Big enough to allow unrestricted movement and permit privacy as needed.
Nice day - walked around town and to Eagle museum.
Excellent end-of-season sales in gift shops.
Took a tour the last time we did an Alaska cruise. Stayhed near the ship this time.
