Interested in learning about how the Vikings got to North America and to see some of the sites that have been on the History Channel; such as, L'anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland. In Greenland, visited with a local family (with translator) to learn about their life. Also visited three sites in Iceland, Akureyri, Isafjordur, and Reykjavik, as well as Saguenay, Quebec and Quebec City, Quebec. In Quebec City, visited Huron-Wendat Reservation, to learn about the culture and history of the Huron. Saw re-creations of a longhouse, sweathouse, and teepee.

The Viking Sea is a lovely vessel accommodating 930 passengers. However, one would never know there were that many people because there are several eating and lounging venues. Disembarkings for land excursions were handled with great efficiency so that everyone is not exiting for a land excursion at the same time.

Embarkation meant going through immigration at the port where Viking Sea was docked. It was very smooth. Next room had many booths at which each individual checked in with Viking, receiving room keycard, and verifying credit card and other vital information. That was very quick. Then boarding, one is greeted by several crew, and were given instructions for how to "check in" and "check out" with room keycard. Read more
