We spent much more money and had much less value than we have on other cruises. The food was mediocre at best. They charge for WIFI and do not include even house wine during cocktail hour/briefings. The cabins were fine and the ship appeared clean. However, for the cost, the expectation is high. They seem to pin most of their value on the on-board naturalists. They were fine, and the on-board historian was excellent. There was a lock closure that blocked the ship from going up the river. Lindblad/Nat Geo knew about it more than a week prior but did not cancel the cruise or provide a chance to cancel with refund. They sent an email which some did not receive - no phone call - two days prior to embarcation. We had to ride buses for hours and stay in sub-par accommodations. We will never take a Lindblad/National Geographic trip again.
The cabin was fine, comparable with other cruise lines.
Portland is a fun city with great parks and outdoor activities. The Saturday Market is fun and has excellent crafts. Portland also has wonderful restaurants. In our experience, the people were very friendly.
