This cruise was arranged through Vermont Biking Tours VBT. The cabin were similar to Avalon, Viking, and Uniworld quality. The staff was excellent speaking English very well and very professional. However, the dining experience is much to be desired. Breakfast and lunch were adequate. Dinner was another matter. The dining room was noisy and it was very difficult to converse. The main course offerings were way und the offerings by Emerald’s competition. One of our party was a vegetarian. Main courses were unappetizing and probably 70 calories. Standard offerings were substantially below the competition. We have been on Viking on the Danube river before with a much better culinary experience. They appeared understaffed, with dinners taking over 2 hours to complete. The staff were working hard, so we would blame corporate Incompetence. Tours had good guides, but there seemed fewer offerings than Viking. Bicycle tours were a pleasant surprise. Excellent ship with a poor dining experience.
