We chose this cruise because it was near our anniversary. The day we got off ship was our anniversary. We had been on this ship before. We celebrated our 10th, and 20th anniversaries on board this ship when it was the Carnival Triumph. We would be getting off on our 30th anniversary. We had been on this ship on our trip to the Panama Canal just four months before. It was much better when it was the Carnival Triumph.

The embarkation went fairly smoothly even though a Carnival employee gave us the wrong information at the front door of the terminal. The rest of the check in went smoothly. Different from the disembarkation.

Our stateroom was nice. The service in the stateroom started off nice, but, as the cruise went on it became not good. They even asked if we wanted them to come to the stateroom twice a day or just once? Don't they know what they are supposed to do? Sometimes they came in and put the next days ship paper in while on other days they just slid it under the door.

Balcony

Don't know what category our stateroom fell into, but, it was a balcony stateroom. It was warm enough on a few days to go out and use the balcony. It was a nice stateroom. The service was good the first few days then got worse as the cruise went on.

Port Reviews

New York (Brooklyn, Red Hook)

We got to the ship by private car service. We got dropped off, checked in luggage, then processed to board the ship.

Halifax

We always enjoy going back to Halifax. This was our 13th time there. It was raining so we didn't want to walk around too much. Went shopping at the market on the pier. Saw an exhibit at a local college with a building on the pier. It was about aging. Met the professor who had created the exhibit. Then went back to the ship.

Saint John (New Brunswick)

The first day at St. John it was a religious holy day for me. My wife got off the ship. The second day we were there it wasn't a holy day for me so I got off the ship. Went to Java Moose. Looked inside a few local stores on the way to and from the historic marketplace. Grabbed a bite to eat at the place that serves Beaver Tails. It was good.

Portland (Maine)

Because of bad weather the port was closed. We had an extra day in St. John.
