On our 9th cruise with Princess, we were very happy with our Panama Canal transit. While the cruise does take several days to get to the canal and stops in some very questionable ports along the way, it all ends up being worth it as the transit is a "bucket List" experience.

The Coral Princess is an older ship, but the size is good for this crowd - older retirees with plenty of time on their hands. We never felt cramped or crowded except for the transit day when everyone wanted to have spot on the top decks on the front of the ship.

The service on this ship is excellent both in the cabins and in the public spaces. Servers were always prompt and courteous. The venues were of sufficient size so we did not have to arrive and hour early to get a seat.

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Balcony

As expected, a good size room with plenty of storage for a 16 day cruise. The bathroom is not large, but okay for 2 people. The only complaint is the shower curtain that tries to stick to you while you shower. It should either be replaced with a door, or use a curved track that keeps it off you during your shower.

Port Reviews

Huatulco

The land and sea tour was marginally informative. We had some good photo opportunities and the drinks on the boat were good.

San Juan del Sur

2 hour bus ride followed by a walking tour of nothing. This was supposed to be a cooking class and I learned nothing. We prepared dishes that I prepare at home all the time. i was hoping for some insight into local flavors and spices, but that did not happen.

Fuerte Amador (Balboa)

Enjoyed a tour of the old locks and the new locks. We came on this curise to learn about the canal and this was the best tour for that.
