Sail Date: Oct 2019
Cabin: Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

It was obvious that NCL management cares only about how much money they can make. For example, the ship stopped in Miami for only a few hours and took on fuel and provisions there. Every passenger had to go through Customs and Immigration and the line took a minimum of three hours to get off and back on. Then they blamed Customs for the delay when the stop was obviously only to benefit the ship, not the passengers.

The line at the private island in the Bahamas for the tenders was over an hour while we watched two Royal Caribbean ships docked at a pier at their island and passengers walked on and off the ship at will. NCL obviously doesn't want to spend the money to build a pier.

The infirmary on the ship charged outrageous prices, in the thousands of dollars for minimal services. The bartenders and waiters worked hard but there just weren't enough of them. The food was cold and second rate.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin was fine. About what I expected for the price. The shower was great but the balcony was very, very small. The bed was very comfortable.

Port Reviews

Copenhagen

Copenhagen was a very interesting city but in mid- October the weather was not the greatest. I would definitely go there again, maybe in August.

Rotterdam

We took the local subway and visited a WW II museum with interesting photos and war memorabilia. It was very informative but very small and took only about an hour to see everything.

Southampton

There was not much to do here except take a two hour train ride to London. That didn't leave much time to see London but it was still OK.

Le Havre

It's France, but it was so bombed out by the British during the war that the whole city was rebuilt in concrete in the 50s.

Cobh (Cork)

Cobb is a very quaint seaside town with a few nice pubs with Irish music. We took a 30 minute cab ride to Cork where the Cork Jazz Festival was going on and the back to Cobh for a few drinks and Irish music in sight of the ship.

Great Stirrup Cay

This stop was a disaster. Another NCL ship got there before us and so we waited for tenders. The wait for tenders was over an hour each way and all of the beach chairs except for a few in the back rows were taken.

Miami

We stopped for about 5 hours total while the ship refueled and took on provisions. Customs made everyone get off the ship and clear Customs, which took several hours, leaving no time for anyone to do anything in Miami except stand in long lines at the dock. At times passengers were yelling and complaining while standing in line, just as they were in the tender lines a day earlier. The ship could have skipped this stop and gone straight to New Orleans.
