The Cruise itinerary was fantastic. We stopped at ports in Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, and Bermuda. Our visits to all were very good. San Miguel island in the Azores especially was terrific. We also like that NCL allows travelers to bring wine on board with a $15 per bottle corkage fee. This was a big factor for us because the allegedly free liquor package in our program was not free. When booking, I questioned an $800 charge and found I had to pay tips based on the cost of what the program would be if it was charged. We drink some wine but even at $20 per day for 16 days, it would not be $800($320). And we did buy wine and a few drinks during our trip while at restaurants but even with the corkage fees we never came to $800. So the program where we can bring our wine is super.

When we got on the ship we were taken to the suite Dining area where we enjoyed lunch. As suite passengers we were told we could use that restaurant for lunch and breakfast throughout the cruise. We never used it for breakfast instead getting coffee and pastries delivered to the room. The lunch menu never changed throughout the 16 day trip. It was good, a couple of choices excellent but tired after a week or so. The soups were fantastic.

After we saw the suite restaurant we went to our room and we were in a forward small suite with a large balcony. It was super and all we needed, the balcony being great. We were settling in when the loud speaker screamed out directions for the Coast Guard required life boat drill. The screaming actually hurt my ears and I could barely understand. I had to go outside on the balcony and tightly hold my ears closed to allay the pain. A terrible experience. NCL needs to change this.

Penthouse with Large Balcony

Super. Had great ship’s door to the balcony that gave us quietness and security. Balcony was fantastic.
