Have wanted to visit Russia and in particular St Petersburg for a long time. The Waterways of the Tzars cruise was a superb way to do so. From the moment we landed in Russia until the time we left we were looked after. The Viking Akun more than met expectations. The cabin was fine with good amenities, everything was spotless, the food was very good and all staff were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I particularly liked the dining menu with the variety of dishes including a selection of local dishes. The guides were very good and while having to keep to a timetable they managed to avoid making the trips seem rushed in any way. I thoroughly enjoyed the onboard pre excursion talks which allowed everyone to get more out of the excursions. The talks about Russian political and economic history were also very interesting. The evening entertainment gave a lighter end to the evening. I would certainly use Viking again either with a group of friends or just with my husband.
