We were supposed to go to Cuba on Paradise, but trip was cancelled so we jumped ship to the Legend. Same port, 7 day cruise vs. 5 day cruise. We would have cancelled the whole cruise but flights and hotel were paid for, plus we had people we were meeting up with before and after the cruise. Legend was a smaller ship than we have sailed in the past, and needs much work (peeling paint, rust and such), but being on a smaller ship meant we were able to mingle more with the crew than we ever have in the past. We attended a cruise critic meet and greet (which I highly recommend doing). There we met the hotel director Eric and the CD Frankie. They stressed how great the crew was and how they all got along and were like family. What we found, was to be true. We ran into Eric 3 times during the cruise and Frankie was one of the best CD, Carnival has to offer. He is very natural at what he does, making his job look effortless, which we know is not the least bit true. The food in the steak house was amazing and our server the first night Igor was knowledgeable about the food and wines and personable.

We also went to the Steak House bar each night before dinner and got to know the best bartender Juvy. Juvy introduced us to the head of beverage officer the last night of the cruise. One of our excursions, a helicopter ride in the Caymans was cancelled due to high winds, so we shopped and had some bites to eat at a place once known as Breezes. Love the Caybrew beer and conch fritters. We also attended the cooking demonstration in the steak house the first sea day. We were amazed that we got to sample each dish they made and glad we did not each lunch before we attended the demonstration. Smaller ship for us meant attending more of the ships on board activities, where as the larger ships have so many other things to offer, and we missed not going to shows, like the marriage show, and lectures/shows, put on by Frankie, both during the day and into the evening.

We wanted to relax this cruise and that is what we did on the Legend, thanks to it's fantastic crew. The crew made this cruise, not the ship.
