I chose this trip on November 15th, 2019 after my booked September cruise was during Hurricane Dorian. We went to Key West, Cozumel, Costa Maya and Grand Cayman. I was disappointed that I was on the smallest of the fleet after not being able to sail on the Allure, but surprisingly it was not as small as I had expected. I travelled with 3 other adults. The embarkation was smooth. The only downside about this was the tight space in the ocean view bedroom. I had a porthole, how ancient is that? Dining was great in the Starlight Dining Room, our waiters Kevisen and Adarsh at table 414 were great. They were quite knowledgeable about the dishes being served. The host at the Windjammer where the buffet was Washy-Washy was quite entertaining. He made sure that hands were cleaned before entering the restaurant. This service was great overall. This cruise had a lot of elderly people onboard. I thought I was on a Golden Oldies cruise. Entertainment was alright but I think scheduling should be better for dining customers who want to see the headline shows. The Director was funny and quite suited for his job. Service was great and the crew really do a great job keeping the place clean at all times. I got better deals on land than via the cruise suggested excursions. Dining was fine in the Windjammer and the Starlight Dining Room was alright, more variety needed on the menus in the dining room. I would travel this again for the price but otherwise I prefer more variety of things to do and more comfort in the cabin. Overall it was a good time, despite the senior age of the majority of the other passengers. The ports visited were okay, I had cruised to a few before. Disembarkation was smooth and quite impressive to me as I dread this time on other cruises. I would recommend the Empress if you want a really good wind down time for your money.

Cabin Review

Ocean View Stateroom

Cabin was kept clean and our steward Ida did a great job every day. The downside was the porthole in the room. I am accustomed to larger ocean views on other cruises. The bedroom was very, very small. Otherwise the bed was comfortable and the pillows were great. The bathroom shower stall was small.
