We chose this cruise because of the itinerary AND because the ship had been renovated. We are Platinum Princess cruisers so have had some experience with Princess. The itinerary was terrific ( Princess Cays, St Thomas, St Kitty’s, st Lucia, Barbados and Antigua. Ports were lovely. Majority of our tours were thru Viator and for us much better value than Princess tours.
Ship itself did not look much different as result of the Reno’s...carpets new in many places but overall a tired ship with stained ceiling tiles, drips from ceiling in spots, scuffed furniture in many places ( esp Horizon Court ). Don’t expect any upgrades to your room following the refurbishment of the ship - still only 2 spots to plug in any devices, hair blowers that yield at least 50 watts of power - took me forever to blow dry my chin length hair. You may get lucky too and have paint spills on your balcony furniture ( we thought it was bird droppings at first). Water pressure in shower was great. Air conditioning not so much. We had maintenance in but really made no difference.
Medallion Class is relatively new so we were patient with some of the issues. Once very nice aspect of the Medallion was that it opened stateroom doors and facilitated getting on and off the ship. I liked not having to carry something extra to hold the cruise card.
Average Princess cabin with balcony. Tired balcony furniture. We booked rather last minute and got the last balcony available so we’re on Lido deck forward which actually turned out to be a great spot.
Bring your own hair dryer if you are picky ( I am).
Still love the open closet layout on Princess.
Shower had terrific water pressure.
Fantastic tour with Viator. Much less crowded and personal than Princess
4 hour car ride,
Private tour a bit long but very interesting. Guide entertaining
