The Majesty of the Seas is Royal Caribbean's (RCL's) oldest ship in its fleet and even with recent renovations in 2018, the Majesty shows its age compared to other ships in RCL's fleet. To make up for this, the on board staff is amazing. The captain (Captain Pare) is an excellent seasoned professional and we were impressed with how the staff treats its customers. Captain Pare is an excellent leader and the staff under him is exceptional for such a small ship. Their excellence takes away some of the physical issues which an older ship presents.

But Royal has some issues that needs to be addressed IMMEDIATELY AT THE PIER in Fort Lauderdale.

The ship sailed out of Fort Lauderdale. Upon entering the facility, we were greeting by a baggage handler which was soliciting tips. He was motioning with both of his hands making the gimme gimme money hand motion. We always tip the handlers anyway, so when we presented the bags, I handed him some tip money as my wife moved the bags towards the bag racks, then he motioned again asking for donations and making the gimmy gimmy hand motions again. I told him I just gave him some tips and he said GIVE MORE! More is appreciated he said. My wife and I were then worried that our bags would not make it on board! Is this what RCL wants its customers to think about before its clients even get on a ship? We reported the grifter when we got on board and hopefully RCL will fix this issue for all future cruisers. If it is not fixed, I will never take a RCL cruise again out of Fort Lauderdale again. SHAKE DOWNS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN ON A SHIP BEFORE A CRUISE EVEN HAPPENS.

The room is tiny, yet it can fit 4! There is rust in the restroom. The update in this room which happened in 2018 appears to have been rushed on glanced over. The same in 5025 and others in this area. Our Room attendant Robert - WAS EXCEPTIONAL. The room was always spotless and aside from the physical issues which he could not address (poor restoration) he made the room better. But be warned - this room had two berths in it. THERE IS NO WAY A FAMILY OF 4 could fit in this room for a 7 night cruise. I saw the prices that are being advertised out of New Orleans for this ship. I hope that people understand the charges for a room such as this is simply not worth it.
