Curacao - and those lovely pastel buildings.

Just back from our Christmas cruise to the southern Caribbean. First time on the Magic and it was very enjoyable. Had a balcony cabin on deck 11 - our cabin steward serviced our room once per day - which was as we requested. Embarkation was perfect we arrived at the terminal at our stated appointment time and pretty much walked onto the ship. Rooms were available at 1:30pm and our luggage was waiting for us at the door. We ate in the main dining room (late sitting) with the exception of Christmas Eve when we dined in the Steakhouse (which we thoroughly recommend). We are not big fans of buffet dining so apart from custom made omelets in the morning we never ate in the buffet area on deck 10. But I gather from the crowds and long lines it must have been rather good!!We do recommend the Deli Sand Bar and also the Pizzeria Entertain was pretty good and the Cruise Director Simon seemed to be everywhere and he and his staff certainly did everything they could to ensure we all had fun. We thoroughly enjoyed the violinists "Electric Wave" in fact they appealed more than the piano player. We had 4 ports of call, Turks and Caicos, La Romana, Curacao and Aruba - they were great we took a short walk ashore in T&C and then returned to the ship. Visited Altos De Chavon, La Villa De Los Artistas in La Romana, a replication of a 16th century Mediterranean village which took 10 years to construct and was rather impressive - we found a wonderful little restaurant and enjoyed walking through the museum and shops. Curacao was the port we stopped in on Christmas Day, not a great deal was open but certainly presented an opportunity to walk around and view the pastel colored houses and businesses. Again we found a nice waterside bar in which to pass the time. Aruba was delightful with something for everyone. The 2 days at sea cruising back to Fort Lauderdale were nice - accept we did get a bit of rain on one of those days - but didn't ruin the whole day so no complaints and you certainly can't control mother nature. Debarkation in Fort Lauderdale was the best we have ever experienced (and we have cruised a lot) we were off the ship and in the parking deck by 7am. All in all it was another awesome vacation on Carnival. The staff were amazing and the service was wonderful. No complaints from us and we look forward to our European cruise later this year.
