We love sea days and had wanted to visit Hawaii so this seemed the perfect cruise. Having cruised 11 times over the past years this was our first time with Princess and will be without any doubt our last.
The Star Princess is a beautiful ship very well designed with good facilities. The furnishings and decor are very pleasant although in some public areas they are showing signs of wear. The cabin, bathroom and balcony are of good size comparable with most other ships we have been on. The general organisation of embarkation, getting off the ship in ports and disembarkation is very good. The wait staff in the Horizon buffet were very attentive and helpful. That's about it for the positives. Now for the negative experiences.
At check-in in San Pedro the woman who went though our details forgot to give us a numbered boarding card which if given would have been a very efficient way of getting aboard but being our first time (Princess) we were not aware of this system. The upshot was that we waited nearl 1.5 hours in the terminal while people came and went around us despite me questioning a staff member and being told just to wait. After waiting far too long I asked another Princess staff member who realised the mistake and let us board immediately. We had been sitting over an hour in the large dull and uninteresting waiting hall needlessly.
