From the large warehouse for embarkment in Bristol thoughts of cheap and cheerful came in to my head. On board there was a smell of diesel in the lower decks. Cabin was clean but as the ship is 55 years old could not expect much. Biggest problem was the trip hazards in the door ways, raised lips on every doorway and uneven floors, on the public toilets two raised edges caught a lot of people out. They had to call the helicopter out twice, and by the end of the cruise many were sporting arm and foot injury's due to falls.
Dining was in two times, and various size tables from two to ten seats. Food was good and plenty of choice with just over the hour from start to finish. This allowed time to get to the theatre to watch the show at 8pm.
The biggest problem I had was the lack of time in the ports. Would arrive at 8am and leave at 1.30 or arrive at 7am and leave 12.30. By the time you had breakfast it only gave a couple of hours to see the place. Cobh was a complete waste and was only to drop people off as arrive 6am and leave at 10.45.
Cabin was two screwed to the wall single beds with dressing tables in between, small flat screen tv with programs that ran all day but no way of finding out when they start so you might seen the end before the begining. Shower with curtain and soap dispenser, wardrobe with safe inside, water bottles that cost 2.80 each. If wardrobe was to open whilst you were out there was no way of getting in to the room as it opened on to the door. Air con worked but the ceiling was all loose panels with gaps.
Very industrial port, met by police at the entrance gate barrier.
one of the only sea ports that gave us time to walk of the boat.
Off at 8am back on at 12.30
11am to 6.30, people took excursions and were then late for the 5.45pm evening meal.
able to have time in the town, a short walk from the port.
8am to 13.30. boxing day so not much open.
