Over a week, Sunday to Sunday, we went down and up the east coast of NZ. We were scheduled to circumnavigate NZ - going down the west coast after going past Cape Reinga, and then into Doubtful and Milford Sounds in Fiordland, but very big swells (reputedly 8 metres) forced a change of plans. EVERYONE was really disappointed, as the Fiordland part was a main attraction, but better to be safe. Sometimes conditions dictate and priorities for safety overrule. Every cabin received a credit for $100 AUS. in compensation. Bad luck, that's all. All staff on board get 10 out of 10, a top effort by them in every respect. The cabins (staterooms) are really comfortable and have everything that you might want. Despite the unclear info supplied, there are 230v sockets in the cabins that accept a standard NZ (and Ozzy) 3 pin (or 2 pin) as well as British and European plugs, as well as USB sockets. The restaurants were very good - plenty of food and options. The entertainment in the Zodiac Theatre was particularly incredible. An absolute not to be missed, - you must get your seat there early (go 30 mins early) or you may miss out. Its ok watching everyone file in. The wifi is sold in packages, (none free) and our friend bought one, but never got it to work. In this day and age, no free wifi is a rarity, and a disservice to the cruise as anyone who was allowed (say) 300Mb per day would be sending photos and messages to friends thereby increasing publicity, so the meanness about this is a shot in the foot. World Class entertainment with 7 piece band in the Palm Lounge most nights, including visits from the incredible dance team. We Loved it all (bar the no wifi.).
