Cruising with my friends, all 65+ I wanted a warm Caribbean destination to escape winter. Due to weather and an engine problem that was known before sailing, we skipped 3 islands out of 5. Princess was nice and gave us credit for future sailings. No complaints there.
The food was mostly good to very good. Desserts were disappointing in the buffet. At dinner, they were a little better. The soft serve ice cream, always available on the pool deck is your best bet. And lets talk about the Horizon buffet. Food was varied and tasty (except desserts) but it wins the award for poorest design. As an early riser I have been in there when there are only 6 guests and we were still bumping into each other. Never had that much of a problem on other ships. Just a poor layout.
Exercise room has everything you need. The big complaint was it does not open until 7 AM. Also they only have a limited number of exercise bikes which the older Princess crowd needs. They spent a lot of money on spin bikes which are only used once a day for a class while we had to stand in line to get on a conventional exercise bike.
We had an "obstructed View" room. Life boat was in the way. That was OK, knew it when booking cabin. The bed was comfortable and the linens and pillows were of excellent quality. Room was clean and worked well for us, except not enough outlets to plug in all of our electronic gadgets. This was a pain. When new ships are built hope this issue is taken into account. The toiletries provided are good and restocked as needed. Steward kept the cabin clean and towels refreshed twice a day. Bathroom shower was ok. Shower still has a curtain rather than glass. Some other cruise lines now have designed their shower stalls with glass doors.
