From the moment we were met at the Prague airport by an Avalon representative who brought us to the hotel to meet our amazing cruise director, then from the moment we boarded our ship, to when the time came to disembark for our return home (again with representatives escorting us to our departure area), we experienced nothing but First Class Service - all the way - by all of the Avalon employees, tour guides and others.

On the ship, the attention to the smallest of details was amazing. The crew members on board were kind and friendly, always smiling, going the extra mile to help you – whether it was answering your questions or accommodating a special request for dinner. The buffet breakfasts and lunches, and dinners from menu choices, were some of the best dining out we've ever had-- worthy of the finest restaurants anywhere-- such choices and diversity, and perfect portion sizes. Our staterooms were very comfortable, we especially found the ‘fire in the fireplace’ feature to be fun and cozy. The lounges were warm and inviting, especially after returning from walking about on some damp, chilly days. It was nice to have a choice of larger lounge with bar (and excellent cocktails including specialty ones) and entertainment, as well as a smaller quiet lounge at the end of the ship for reading or just relaxing too (with snacks and coffee 24/7). There was even a small but nicely equipped fitness room with the basics which, with the tours and all else, we didn't even need.

On our tours, our guides knew their stuff and enlightened us with their many insights on their country, culture and custom-- one of the trip highlights for us.

Cabin Review

Outside Stateroom with French Balcony

Our room greatly exceeded our expectations in all respects. It was lavishly appointed, including such touches as a real moth orchid plant; was extremely well thought-out for layout, including such touches as storage space under beds (in addition to drawers), lighting in the closet, plenty of lighting in the room (including recessed lights), even under counter bathroom lighting for night. The room didn't seem small as we had thought due to the layout, nor did the bathroom-- plenty of room including a well-sized and nice shower. There were even two colors of bath linens, and a choice of two types of bath amenities.

The bed, along narrow as might be expected, was able to be changed in firmness through various combinations of foam toppers. The floor and ceiling and wall to wall panorama windows were wonderful even in winter--we can imagine how nice they'd be in summer too.

Room service too was top rate-- rooms were made while at breakfast, and turned down at night while at dinner, and if anything needed attention a staff member or even front desk manager was right there to look into and correct it. We couldn't really think of anything about the room we would have changed or wished were different.
