We wanted to visit the Rhine River area! We took a pre trip in Basel Switzerland and a post trip in Amsterdam The Netherlands. We prefer these options to become better acclimated to the time zone and extend our vacation time.
Viking staff met us at the airport to insure that we arrived at our hotel safely and provided a short tour about Basel. We had a wonderful diner at a local restaurant before retiring for the night after traveling the previous night through the Frankfort airport and on to Basel.
Viking staff guided us to the local train station so we could take an hour train ride to Lucerne Switzerland to view the historic city area and finding a great local restaurant for lunch. Travel was great via train as were the sites in Lucerne.

Clean and well taken care of daily. The beds were even turned down at night for us by the staff and daily itineraries provided for the next days activity.

Very enjoyable view of clock making, glass blowing and cake making!

Toured through small towns on our way to the winery. Very much enjoyed the tour and gift shop.
Heidelberg
Enjoyed the walking tour of the castle grounds and views out over Heidelberg.

Excellent viewing of the old castle rooms and grounds.

Enjoyed the walking tour of the historic city.

Excellent tour of three plus brewhouses and dinner at the Brauhaus zur Malzmuhle.
