We opted for the Royal Princess cruise on the Mexican Riviera mainly because it was close to where we live in California and because the ship had been updated recently and looked beautiful. We were not disappointed and from the beginning to the end of the cruise we were amazed by the service we were provided.
First off, the ship was elegant, massive and spotless. Since there was 3 of us in a balcony room it was a bit cramped when the sofa sleeper was out and it was a little difficult to access the balcony door. That was conveyed in the research I did prior to booking the room so it wasn’t a surprise. The room was very functional and had everything we needed.
We mainly dined at the Horizon Buffet, but did get pizza and hamburgers by the pool occasionally. The food was extremely good with a wide variety. We never had any trouble finding a table and usually always had a good view as we cruised. The service in the dining room was excellent, drinks would be given to you immediately, they would refill them when they were empty, then the plates would be whisked away so you could go get a new plate for seconds or just have a clean table and be ready for a huge selection of desserts.
As I mentioned previously the room was a bit cramped when the sofa bed was folded out, but we knew that was the case from the information I had prior to booking it. The room had everything we needed and lots of room to hang clothes up. What a great view from our balcony and I would recommend a balcony room if you want to just sit outside and watch the world go by in the mornings and evenings as well as watching the ship dock. We were on the 14th floor and it was very peaceful. No noise from elevators or activities.
Our steward, Santosh was super, hopefully all stewards are like him, but I doubt it. He went above and beyond our expectations.
