Chose this cruise to celebrate New Year in style and also to see Amsterdam and Bruges having never been there before or travelled on P&O before.
Embarkation was fantastic with boarding passes being printed out at home before we travelled which cut out the waiting time to board the ship. All went without a hitch and we were straight on board in no time.
Our cabin was very good, clean and tidy and our steward was just excellent with great attention to detail - nothing was too much trouble.
Food was also very good and the service could not be faulted, especially as my husband has a nut allergy. Every care was taken when preparing his food.
The entertainment on-board in the theatre was first class and the magic show was just amazing.
The ship was very nice however there were a few places where a bit of TLC would not have gone amiss.
It was a disappointment when we were invited to attend the Captain's party only for him to not show - understandably we were informed he was busy on the bridge but when we were told the Deputy Captain would attend it would have been nice of him/her to make himself known!!!! After about 15 minutes the majority of people dwindled away!
Next came New Year's Eve and the party we had been looking forward to. Unfortunately there was no "big party", only the bars doing their own thing. The staff worked hard but it was not what we expected.
Then for the sail away party - or not. Admittedly it was very cold and the staff tried to get the few people involved who had shown up but where were the flags, etc. After a song from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England (which were not the usual songs played at a sail away party) the staff disappeared. There was not the atmosphere there that there usually is.
Would we travel with P&O again? In short Yes but not for New Year -sorry P&O!
