We had already traveled multiple rivers in Europe. This time we chose the Douro in Portugal. We had a great time learning about the production of port wine, viewing the gorgeous vineyards, and enjoying wonderful food. I caught a terrible cold, but the cruise was fabulous.

We had 2 lovely days in Lisbon before boarding the ship. Then traveled the Douro. Beautiful scenery and interesting stops like Fatima shrine, Rodrigo Castelo, Salamanca, Spain. Along the way we visited vineyards and port sellers. I had no idea how interesting port production was—and tasty, too.

The food was wonderful. We always enjoy the communal dining and getting to know so many new people. This trip was no exception. In addition, it is nice to taste regional specialties and local wines.
