We enjoyed the 2017 cruise on the Viking Sea so much, we just had to do it again. Second time around was more enjoyable than the first. After all the previous In the Wake of the Vikings was our first cruise. Now we know what to do and what to expect. Maybe someday we will try a third time! The Viking Sun was great and we certainly appreciated our free suite upgrade. The staff in our favorite eating spot, the World Cafe, was superb and they responded perfectly to our teasing. They were always willing to go the extra mile to make us more comfortable, such as moving us quickly from the only available table back to our favorite table when it suddenly opened up. As always, we tried to fill our time with the fun and enlightening excursions so we fell into bed after dinner. The best part of that was Viking doesn't mind if you do what you want to do even if it means missing some of the wonderful entertainment and activities they offer. When the weather prevented us from seeing the Shetland Islands (Lerwick), the captain substituted a fantastic cruise through Prince Christian Sound (Greenland) with its fjords and glaciers. This proved to be a high point of the whole cruise even though Lerwick was one of the reasons for repeating this cruise (now this is on our list for a future cruise!). Viking ships feel just like home to us; we couldn't be more comfortable. We are already planning our next Viking cruises!

Cabin Review

Getting a free upgrade from the Penthouse Veranda to the Junior Suite was a pleasant surprise. The extra room was great and we even found use for the extra TV occasionally. Overall, we felt the upgrade was wonderful but would still be fully satisfied with the Veranda. I have examined several catalogs from other cruise lines and have seen no cabins that combine the convenience and comfort that we find on Viking ships.
