Booked the cruise for 1-11 to 1-16-2020. So here's the bad: This was (by plan)a cruise to Amber Cove D.R. and Grand Turks. The Elation had "mechanical issues" that limited the speed to about 10 knots. This was too slow to to reach Amber Cove so this port was cancelled. The next day we were to go to Grand Turks. After a couple of attempts they announced the winds were too high to safely dock. In looking at historical weather that morning winds were 24 MPH/20 knots and gusts to 36MPH/31 knots. Not sure what the limits of this class of ship are so I take the Captain at his word and have no problem being safe. The did stop in Nassau on the way back so after 4 days being stuck on the ship we did get a chance to do something even though we had been there before and IMO is not the best Caribbean port around. Carnival gave each passenger $50 each onboard credit for missing Amber Cove and Grand Turks. That is a small percentage of what we paid for an upgraded balcony room. The bad thing is I found out after returning home that I know someone who sailed the Elation in September 2019 on the same route but they had mechanical issues right away and just went straight to Nassau. He was offered 50% off their next cruise. I called Carnival and was told the $50 was all they would do. Carnival does have a 24 hours guarantee but since they did not announce the mechanical issues (which happened in the first 24 hours) until later that guarantee was no longer available. By plan? I have my opinion you can make up your own. .

Ok now for the good. The main dining room food was quite good but the dining staff was excellent. The playlist production did a good job. The room though showing a little age was kept clean. Jen the cruise director did her best having to deal with unhappy customers and ones that were just plain nasty. Many of those said Carnival should give everyone drink passes. I'm thinking ya so unhappy and even angry passengers getting liquored up what could go wrong right? Fortunately Carnival did not concede this point :)

This was only the second time on Carnival and will be our last.

Dated but clean though the patio chairs had paint splatters.
