We loved our first Viking experience. The ship was well appointed with comfortable beds, attentive staff, and a great selection of local tours. We traveled with another couple but joined a bigger table for dinner each evening. The food was delicious with a local selection each night. The wine selection was good and the bartender in the bar remembered what you liked to drink after the first night. You do not have to dress up at night for dinner.
We enjoyed the evening talks about what we would see the next day. There were several tours you could choose for the day with all levels of ability to navigate cobblestone streets available. AKA the "leisurely tour" if needed with a slower pace. We attended local dinners in 2 ports that had great food and entertainment. Our cruise director was everywhere from the ship to many of the tours. Some days we walked several miles with interesting local guides.
The views from the ship of the Rhine were spectacular. We chose to stay a few days afterward to explore Amsterdam. Next time I would spend a couple of days in the port before we left to get over jet lag. With airline delays, we almost missed one of our flights and had lost luggage issues. The Einar staff were on it and had the luggage in the room after dinner that first night.
The cabin was spacious. There was a TV in both the bedroom and living area with great local information. The bathroom was modern. Just make sure another ship has not rafted next to you before you come out of the bathroom. Our room steward was attentive. He made sure our favorite water was restocked everyday. The wine stocked in the suite was good and there was always fresh fruit every morning. Laundry service was included in our suite.
